| 1972 FORD F-100 Serial # 09526 Purchase date: 02/13/2008 Stats: Years built: 1972 Status: Under restoration Brief history: We purchased this truck that was advertised as an old farm/work truck that was in need of restoration. The ad described the truck as having a worn out motor. We arrived to pick the truck up with the intention of doing a lot of sheet metal and an engine replacement. We soon found out upon out arrival at the sellers residence that this truck was something very different than it was advertised. The truck in near pristine original conditiion only has 69,000 original miles. EVERY part of the truck is original and it only had a few worm holes of rust anywhere. I started the truck which fored up instantly and drove it on the trailer for the trip home. Once we got the truck home and unloaded it, we set in to taking a closer look. In the glove box was a zippered bank bag. It included ALL the original paperwork. Not just maintenance records BUT the original "build sheet", the invoice showing the purchase when new from Young Ford on Stonewall St in Charlotte, NC, the metal warranty tag, etc... ALL of it was there!! Well, now the situation has changed our original intentions. This truck will be built back to bone stock original. The numbers matching 302 will be rebuilt and the original paint color will be attached back to the truck. The truck had been duck-hunter painted at some point. We kicked off the project on Feb. 18th, 2008 by pulling the original 302 so it can go into the engine shop for a freshening up. |
